The APC-1 is a distinctive speaker-equipped guitar that echoes the iconic shape of VOX guitars from the 1960s. It features an analog circuit amp utilizing VOXs extensive amp-making technology and a rhythm machine employing VOX MINI GO, the digital modeling amp. This guitar, a culmination of VOXs expertise and past product know-how, comes fully equipped with all the functions needed for sound production. With no need for an additional amp or effects, it can be played standalone and is suitable for various settings like the living room, outdoors, or as a travel guitar.
The amplifier section, which is the key to the sound, was redesigned to match the APC-1 speaker unit based on the legendary tone of the VOX AC30. By focusing on analog circuits for this amplifier section, an authentic sound was achieved. In addition, the multi-stage gain circuitry perfectly reproduces the complex distortion found in tube amplifiers. The amp-like control section allows for a wide range of sound makeup, from clean to crunch to drive sounds. Another unique feature of this guitar is the GAIN knob, which allows for easy-to-use overdrive distortion sounds, rather than the fuzzy distortion that is common on guitars with speakers.
Drawing inspiration from the technology of the VOX MINI GO series of digital modeling amplifiers, the APC-1 incorporates advanced effectors and a rhythm machine. The array of effects includes chorus, tremolo, delay, and reverb, with the added convenience of a tap tempo function for the delay and reverb features. The rhythm machine provides 11 genres, featuring a metronome, and each genre offers three variations, totaling 33 pre-installed rhythm patterns.
The body design is reminiscent of the vintage VOX guitars released in the 1960s. The head shape has also been newly designed by rearranging the products of the time.
