S. E. Shires’ TBQ36R bass trombone offers boutique quality and handcrafted excellence for the professional musician. This innovative instrument, featuring a 9.5″ yellow brass bell and open wrap F/Gb rotary valves provides a fully chromatic lower register and nearly imperceptible wind resistance.

A hand-hammered, two-piece yellow brass bell produces a rounded tone with outstanding resonance and projection. Independent F and Gb attachments give access to a fully chromatic low register below the staff. Three interchangeable lead pipes allow players to customize the trombone’s response and sound to suit their preferences. The leadpipes shape the instrument’s tone, articulation, and overall character.

S. E. Shires’ rotary valves maintain the size and shape of tubing throughout the valve ports, providing a stable sound in all registers. Their optimized design is a superior version of the traditional rotary valve, providing stability and light, quick action.

A .562″ yellow brass handslide pairs with a nickel silver crook for a balanced, rounded tone. The QII bell taper and soldered bead focus the TBQ36R’s sound for a clear tone, broad projection, and a deep low register.
