The 6-ply, 4 mm shell combines two plies of walnut with four plies of maple for a blend of depth, warmth and resonance. The walnut plies add richness and body while the maple provides crispness. Rounded 45-degree bearing edges maximize contact between the shell and heads, optimizing vibration transfer for an expansive tone. This stout shell is ready to punch through any mix.
The Big Bud’s double tub lugs and steel triple-flanged hoops are a throwback to the era that inspired it. The lugs securely hold the shell’s plies together while allowing it to resonate freely. The hoops give you 3.2 mm of contact with coated or clear heads for crisp articulation and rebound. A Dixon lever-style throw-off and adjustable butt plate put a classic touch on this retro-styled drum.
