The foundation of the Custom Tele’s iconic sound lies in its premium tonewood selections. The two-piece select ash body boasts tight grain patterns that project the Tele’s signature percussive attack and shimmering highs. Finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, the ash resonates freely while aging gracefully over time. A roasted AA birdseye maple neck adds warmth, sustain and playing comfort, topped with a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard for that unmistakable vintage feel.
To capture everything from glassy country twang to searing rock leads, the American Custom pairs two exceptional pickups. A Custom Shop hand-wound Texas Special single-coil resides at the bridge position, delivering the ideal blend of bright attack and smooth sustain. The neck pickup is a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover, based on the original design by the famed pickup pioneer. Its hum-canceling design retains the clarity of a single-coil while reducing noise.
