DEAN – DEMONS FOR SOLO FLUTE

Composed for Volume 3 the letter “D” of the integral CD project “From A to Z” by the flutist Sharon Bezaly Brett Dean makes extensive use of the corresponding note in a seven-minute solo work: “Demons starts with hammering high Ds to be played in a highly excited and ‘demonic’ way with an enormous amount of different timbres articulations harmonics and nuances. The piece then takes a new direction and reveals a short but dense ‘rondo form’. The first part dominated by the ‘D’ returns in the midst of contrasting sections until its energy is used up…”
